RAMP-UP

RAMP-UP is a national initiative dedicated to strengthening Canada’s readiness for future pandemics through innovation in biomanufacturing, cutting-edge research, and the training of highly qualified personnel.

We bring together leading universities, research institutions, and industry partners to accelerate the development of vaccines and biologics—from pathogen identification to clinical-scale production—ensuring rapid, reliable, and equitable access for all Canadians.

Our Mission

To make Canada pandemic-ready by developing scalable, adaptable, and GMP-compliant biomanufacturing processes, while training the next generation of interdisciplinary experts.

What We Do

  • Research: We focus on readiness towards SARS-CoV-2 and Avian Flu (H5N1 type) outbreaks scenarios and aim to develop advanced bacterial and mammalian cell platforms, upstream/downstream processes, and analytical technologies to support rapid biologics production.
  • Training: Through our STAIR, UP-STAIR, and STAIR-CASE programs, we prepare students at all levels to thrive in academic, industrial, and governmental biomanufacturing environments.
  • Collaboration: We work closely with technology transfer partners and industry to bridge the gap between discovery and commercialization.

Get involved

Whether you’re a student, researcher, industry partner, or policymaker, RAMP-UP offers opportunities to collaborate, learn, and lead in the evolving field of biomanufacturing.
